Read the capacity column closely. A 5 quart Ninja claims 4 pounds of fries. An 8 quart Ninja claims the same 4 pounds. A 6 quart Instant claims 2 pounds. The baskets are not that different. How I chose
I have not used these air fryers. I read each listing line by line, pulled out the numbers that decide whether it fits your food and your counter, and read Amazon's summary of owner reviews for each. I kept to long-running models from brands with a very large base of owner reviews. Where a listing leaves out a number, the table says "not given" and I do not guess.
Do these four things in week one
- Read the manual's section on clearance and set the unit where it has that much room. Pull it out from under the cabinets to cook if you need to.
- Run it empty once if the manual says to. New units can smell at first.
- Cook one full-size meal for your household while you can still return it. If you needed two batches, you need more floor.
- Check chicken with a food thermometer. The USDA's safe minimum for poultry is 165°F inside. A browned outside does not prove the inside is done.
